First of all, I want to thank you for supporting my efforts to keep Big Brothers Big Sisters of Burke County going strong for 22 years! Bowling for Kids’ Sake, like many other non-profit events, must have a different look and different way of raising funds. But, as you can imagine, their means of collecting donations has become quite challenging. Sooooo, I am helping out by asking you to donate, any amount you can, to Terri’s Team. You can find my team bbbswnc.org under the register for Bowl For Kids Sake, then go to bowl with Burke County tab scrolling down to click on my team and hit the Donate button.
If you don’t want to do an online donation, you can just mail it or bring it to Mary in the church office. Please make checks payable to: BBBS. If you have any Questions, feel free to call me (828-432-6499) or email me (email@example.com)
The Community Ministries Commission has decided to embark upon a new project for the children involved in the Big Brothers Big Sisters organization. BBBS are supported monthly by the St. Charles tithing program. The commission has decided to make each child’s birthday a special event by having a Guardian Angel Tree in the church hallway. Children with a birthday during the month will have a name tag with their name, age, and birthday wishes listed on the tag. Please select a tag and donate a birthday gift. Bring it back to the church, and the gifts will in turn be given to the child’s mentor for special delivery to the child. Members of the commission will also provide a birthday cake bag to the child. This program will run for a year starting in March 2020. Many of the families do not have the resources to provide gifts to their children, so we are asking for your help in giving them a blessed birthday. Please pray for this program. God Bless and Thank you. Rita Gallagher, Chair
The Catholic Heart Work Camp youth group would like to give a big shout out to everyone who purchased fruit this year. Proceeds from the fruit sale will go towards upcoming expenses for the 2020 camp in Charleston, SC. Again, thank you.
The Catholic Heart WorkCamp youth group is taking orders for fruit now
through Nov. 15. Oranges, grapefuit, mandarins, and assorted boxes will
be available. Contact a youth or see Gail Watson or Mary Koontz in the
office. Fruit will be delivered the middle of December. Thank you.
Big Brother Big Sisters would like to invite everyone to their fund raiser/spaghetti dinner on Friday, October 25th from 5-7 pm in Murray Hall. The 6th grade class from St. Charles will be your servers as one of their class projects. Save the date and support this wonderful organization.
For interested students entering 9th grade or older and adults who would like to chaperone, St. Charles will be hopefully going to Charleston, SC next year. Please talk to Gail Watson in the office or at firstname.lastname@example.org by September 18 to secure your spot at camp.
